North America continued to be hit hardest by falling contract prices for DRAM memory in July.
The 30-day rolling average prices of 128Mb DRAM chips dropped 9.1 per cent to $2.39 in North America for the period ended August 3, according to figures from ICIS-LOR.
Prices fell eight per cent in Europe to $2.46, and 4.5 per cent to $2.43 in Asia, Nikkei Market Access reports, via Asiabiztech.
As a result, 128Mb DIMMs now cost around one tenth of what they did a year ago (30-day rolling average prices).
Memory module prices dropped 2.8 per cent on the spot market to $14.92 in North America between July 5 and August 3. Prices fell 4.2 per cent to $14.41 in Europe and three per cent to $13.32 in Asia. ®
