Virgin.net has become the latest ISP to pass on a price cut for the activation of its ADSL service.
The price reduction is available to all customers who sign up for Virgin.net Broadband between January 10 and March 31.
The promo means that punters won't have to fork out £39.99 to activate the service. Demon - owned by Scottish telco Thus - has also scrapped connection charges on its range of ADSL broadband products.
The promo was introduced yesterday and, like similar promos by other ISPs, will run to the end of March - at which point it will "review" its "connection charges policy".
Elsewhere, One.Tel - part of the giant Centrica group - has axed the cost of its broadband activation fee until the end of March. As well as free connection, it's also offering a modem for £29.99.
Last month BT Wholesale announced it was offering ISPs half price broadband connections as part of a limited promotion for the first three months of the year.
Since it was a wholesale offer, it is up to ISPs to decide how much - or how little - of this offer they pass on to end users. ®
