BT extends cheap install promo for no frills broadband

Next!

BT Retail is to extend its half price line activation offer until the end of the year, the monster telco announced today.

It means anyone signing up for its no frills BT Broadband service (that's the wires only one with no email, content etc) can get their line activated for £30 instead of £60.

The promo runs until December 31 2002 and lines must be activated before January 31 2003.

News of the promo's extension comes as BT Retail moves into the second phase of its £33m ad campaign to plug broadband. It's already spent £10m for a barrage of ads to talk-up the potential of broadband.

This latest campaign will concentrate on promoting the BT Broadband product and feature the antics of those cartoon characters, Smokey and Bacon - BT's own motorbike-riding broadband hogs.

This latest campaign will set back the telco £23m as it tries to sign up 500,000 customers to its BT Broadband service by next summer. ®
