Iwill readies mobos for delayed Intel P4 Xeon

May be out before the chip is

Published Tuesday 8th May 2001 11:52 GMT

Taiwanese mobo maker Iwill will ship dual-processor boards for Intel's now-delayed Pentium 4 Xeon, codenamed Foster.

The boards, the DX400-SN and DX400-L, are set to ship by the end of the month - just in time for Intel to recommence shipments of the new chip.

Iwill appears to have confirmed Foster will ship at 1.7GHz - Intel's official line is "greater than 1.4GHz". Foster is a Socket 603 part (in other words, it's got 603 pins), supports Rambus RDRAM memory and operates on a 400MHz frontside bus.

Iwill's two boards support up to 4GB of RDRAM (the DX400-SN) and 2GB (the DX400-L). The will cost $1000 and $800, respectively. ®
