150Mb and little movies too

the Sony MVC-CD300

Sony has announced it will put its CD-R/RW digital camera on the market on June 8. The camera is called the CD Mavica and uses an eight centimetre CD, capable of holding 150Mb worth of images.

There will be two models - the MVC-CD300 and the less fancy CD200 (basically three million pixels as opposed to two million). Both come with a 3x zoom lens - which is equivalent to 34mm to 102mm for those of you more used to film - and a USB interface.

More interestingly, the cameras can also record small action clips. You can store 15 seconds worth of hi-quality footage, 60 seconds on middling quality or 240 seconds at rough-and-ready.

The battery will last 75 minutes, Sony says, and can take 800 snaps. ®
