Here's another milestone in mouse technology. Swiss manufacturer Logitech has come up with the Cordless MouseMan Optical - which promises "no ball to clean and no cables to tangle".

The product is scheduled to ship in early April and will be priced at $69.95.

The mouse uses Logitech's Palomar digital radio technology, which promises the mouse functions up to six feet from the receiver. The optical sensor in the device, designed by Agilent Technologies, has a three-month battery life and offers 800 dots-per-inch (DPI) resolution.

It sounds as though this MouseMan is a bit of a power monster. The release states "there are four modes of power consumption to conserve energy while in use, while its software allows the user to easily check battery life. The software also includes a low battery-life indicator to inform the user in advance when the battery should be changed".

What else. It comes in the same shade of metallic blue as Logitech's optical Wheel Mouse; it has two brushed steel-effect buttons, a third button, and a scroll wheel which doubles as a fourth button. ®
