Ginger nuts told to back off
'Beyond whimsical'

Dean Kamen, American inventor of "Ginger", a secret but supposedly revolutionary device that will change the face of the world as we know it, is telling people that the project is "nothing of the earth shattering nature that people are conjuring up".
What a surprise. Last week's press fuss about Ginger - which may or may not be a motorised scooter (but who cares anyway) - was extraordinary. And dumb.
In a press release issued late Friday, Kamen said the speculation sprang from an "unfortunate, unapproved leak of a book proposal (which) quoted several prominent technology leaders out of context, without their doubts, risks and maybes included".
Kamen does not refer to Ginger by name, but describes the "project" as promising. ®
