Energis Squared hacked and used for spam

Clients' servers down for two days

Internet business provider Energis Squared has told clients its server network has been hacked and used to send out spam mail.

The business owned up after a large number of its servers went down.

One client told the Register its Web server had been down all Wednesday and Thursday and didn't come back online until earlier this morning. The business was told that Energis Squared was calling in the police to investigate.

Energis Squared, formerly known as Planet Online, is based in Leeds and is owned by Energis.

The company has promised an official response is in the electronic post. ®
