Cheapzilla strikes again

Chipzilla's paw bit by AMD saw

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has again attempted to queer Intel's developer forum pitch by using an intercept and kill strategy.

AMD, dubbed Cheapzilla because it doesn't want to spend the money that Via and Intel does on developer conferences, at least publicly, has booked a suite in the very same hotel many journalists are staying in.

The avowed aim of AMD, according to a number of journalists The Register has quizzed, is to capitalise on Intel's largesse in inviting them but to intercept them to tell them all about its own plans.

Thus far, The Reg has failed to track down the said suite but we have it on good authority on where they are, so intend to beard the lion in its den. ®

AMD, Intel, Rambus, Compaq, IBM, et al, are not investors in La Reg
