Korea to crack down on obscene Webcasting

The nations youth are being polluted

Officials in Seoul are to crack down on obscene Webcasting services after fears they are polluting the minds of Korean teens.

The Ministry of Information and Communication revealed to the Korean Herald that plans are afoot to draw up a bundle of fresh regulations for Webcasting stations. If they get the go-ahead, these organisations will be hit by new registration rules, a rating system and "enhanced membership qualification".

Also reported to be in the offing are compulsory licensing rules - operators are currently allowed to do business only if they first report to the authorities.

The Ministry also wants operators to use a content rating system to stop kids peeking at obscene material.

And there are plans to make operators ask for electronic signatures from new members. Apparently, many underage Korean scamps borrow adults' resident registration numbers and credit card numbers to log onto adult sites. ®
