A South African hospital has launched an online auction for a boob job.

Bids were this morning running at R10,251 (£976) for the plastic surgery package, which includes a breast reduction op, overnight stay in a top Johannesburg hotel for the patient and their partner, a rejuvenating hamper, and a "hearty breakfast" the next morning.

The whole bundle is valued at R20,530 (£1958) by private hospital group Netcare, and is the first of a week of such under-the-knife offers on its Website. Bidding shuts at 10pm South African time tonight. But a fresh auction will kick off tomorrow, where bidders can try for laser skin resurfacing, followed by fat removal on Wednesday, facial hair removal on Thursday, and eyelid surgery on Friday.

The operations will be carried out at Johannesburg's Park Lane Clinic, and must be booked withing 48 hours of winning the bid.

According to Reuters, Netcare denied the Internet auction was a publicity stunt.

The Reduction Mammoplasty sell-off is to be accompanied by a giant billboard advert in Johannesburg, which will repeat the word "Tits" in letters of decreasing size. ®
