Updated EE customers are struggling to access the mobile network.

A number of subscribers have reported seeing "PDP authentication failure" error messages on their smartphones, but EE has yet to put out an official announcement about the tech blunder.

It told one user in a muted tweet that the company was "aware of the issue and are working to restore full service as a matter of priority. Sorry for the inconvenience."

Down Detector reported a spike in service wobbles on its website this morning.

And this flood of tweets suggests the technical cockup could be hampering plenty of Brits who are currently failing to access the EE network.

Despite the complaints piling up, EE had not returned The Register's requests for comment at the time of publication. We'll update if we hear more.

Are you an EE customer blighted by this network FAIL? And what do you make of the PDP auth snafu? Wade in with your thoughts in the comments section. ®

Update

An EE spokesman responded to our questions after El Reg published this story. He offered us this canned statement:

We apologise to those customers who are experiencing problems accessing data and sending MMS messages. We have identified the cause at one of our data centres and we’re resolving the issue as quickly as possible. We are sorry for any inconvenience.
