VMware has confirmed that 27 of its products need patches for the Heartbleed bug.
The bad news is that Virtzilla says it “expects to have updated products and patches for all affected products … by April 19th.”
The 19th is Saturday. Easter Saturday. The previous day is Good Friday, a public holiday in the UK, Canada, Australia and 12 US states but not in VMware's California home.
While VMware's coders will therefore be working to their usual schedules (assuming much of the work is being done at HQ), plenty of VMware customers will probably have to coax people into the office at a time when lots take a break and/or travel.
Even if VMware meets its deadline handily, patching has the potential to wipe out a weekend: we have no way of knowing if the patches will be easy to make and many VMware rigs use multiple instances of the same product.
This knowledge base article lists all the products requiring patches. If you're a TLDR kind of person, here's the skinny: vCenter Server 5.5 and ESXi 5.5 need an update, as does Fusion 6.0 and NSX-MH and NSX-V.
The bulk of the patches apply to VMware Horizon products. Patches are already available for Horizon Workspace Server 1.0 through 1.8. ®
