A twitchy Juniper Networks can't seem to sit still for very long before wielding the job-cuts axe. This time it's letting go of six per cent of its workforce around the world.

Hundreds of employees are set to be let go just months after the company's last round of layoffs in October last year.

Juniper Networks said that staff shouldn't be too surprised about the latest reduction in headcount.

It warned earlier this year that more job cuts were planned.

The corporation said in a canned statement:

As we announced in February as part of our integrated operating plan, Juniper plans to implement a streamlined organisational structure that strengthens our ability to execute, reinvigorates our mission-driven culture, and aligns to our growth opportunities in 2014 and beyond.

As a result of this important initiative, we are reducing our workforce by approximately six per cent globally.

This action is among several initiatives designed to focus on high-growth segments and right-size certain functions, enabling us to work smarter, control costs and focus our resources on areas of innovation that matter most to our customers and partners.

At the last count, Juniper Networks had nearly 9,500 employees on its books. The company laid off 300 staffers in October 2013. ®
