Turnover at the top in Oz telco-land as AAPT, Huawei, Optus, lose top brass
Move along, nothing to see here but orderly transitions

Two plush offices just became available in Australian telco-land, with the departure of C-level executives at AAPT, Optus and Huawei.
The latter company has that current CEO Guo Fulin has been “promoted to a regional role within Huawei” in line with the company's “global practice of rotating senior executives through different markets to help them gain a breadth of management experience, and comes with the approval of the local Board of Directors.”
The new man is James Zhao, whose potted bio says he signed up at the company as a radio engineer back in the year 2000, later became a “sales manager in China” and rose to lead Huawei Indonesia and serve as global account director for Indian telecoms titan Bharti Airtel.
Over at Optus, CEO for consumer Australia Mr Kevin Russell, CEO will spend his last day at the company on March 31st. Paul O’Sullivan, Optus owner Singtel's CEO for consumer across the group, will warm the seat while a replacement is found.
O'Sullivan says Russeel has wanted a change for a while, as he feels he has successfully transformed Optus' consumer business.
Lastly, AAPT CEO David Yuile has called it quits. Yuile is credited with turning the telco around after a troubled decade in which it bailed from the consumer and small business markets to focus on internet and data services. ®
