EVault hints it might snuggle up with daddy Seagate's Kinetic drives

Data backup biz EVault is implying it could start using parent Seagate’s Kinetic, Ethernet-addressed disk drives in its cloud archival service.
The company is joining the Entertainment Storage Alliance and Amar Kapadia, its senior director of Open Cloud Strategy, will present on “recent advances in enterprise storage” at a 26 February event.
Other speakers include representatives of Seagate, Intel and SanDisk.
An EVault blog states: “This meetup will include discussions about the Seagate Kinetic Open Storage platform, which utilises ultra-low latency within enterprise architectures, and how one could take advantage of its low cost, high capacity cloud storage using OpenStack.”

By enabling direct application-to-disk drive access, cutting out the traditional storage server/storage array controller stack, Seagate says its key-value Kinetic drives will enable lower cost storage.
