For this week's podcast, your host Ed Saipetch is in the driving seat – with co-hosts Greg Knieriemen and Sarah Vela riding in the back. The whole gang is together in San Francisco at VMworld with special guest Michael Hay, vice president and chief engineer at Hitachi Data Systems.

In a neat 42 minutes, the four of them chat about visibly uncomfortable "hardcore" engineer Pat Gelsinger, who apparently won't be winning any awards for public speaking. The consensus? There are "a lot of shitty speakers out there" – VMWare's CEO is apparently among them – but the "content and message were good". Plus: Is VMware becoming another Oracle? They also talk virtualisation and "software-based" storage – "all fun and games until you get to the cache management..."
