Google Apps goes TITSUP for millions - users REJOICE on Twitter

Cloud rains on parade. Again

Google's customers are currently complaining about an outage affecting a number of the ad giant's products - including Gmail and storage service Drive.

The company said it was investigating reports of disruption to its service and claimed that only 0.007 per cent of its users - which would amount to millions of people - were affected by Gmail and other online properties going titsup.

Anecdotal reports on Twitter suggest that the problem is mainly preventing people from accessing work emails and files Stateside, and may solely have struck Apps for Business customers. But many affected by outage said they were glad to be freed from having to do any work.

Google said that its Documents, Presentations, Gmail and Drive services were all affected by the outage.

The website Downrightnow currently shows Google Apps in the red zone. Which is bad, obviously.

The Register has asked Google to explain what's gone wrong. We'll update the story as soon as we know more.

It's exactly a year to the day since Google had a similar problem with its Gmail service, after it stubbornly stopped working for about 30 million of the company's users. ®
