A South Korean woman's refusal to swallow scuppered her cunning plan to smuggle tadpoles out of China, Shanghaiist reports.

The unnamed frog-lover was pulled over at Guangzhou Airport on 16 March, when security operatives spotted she had a bottle of liquid in her luggage, contrary to anti-improvised-exploding-trouser legislation. She was asked to quaff the contents, and complied, but rather blew it by declining to fully down the fluid.

Security then ordered her to spit, at which point she expelled a gobful of porwigle.

The woman - who explained the tadpoles were a present from a Chinese chum - was allowed to continue her journey, but only after ditching the poor creatures, in accordance with "the airline's strict no-flying-with-baby-frogs-in-your-mouth policy", as the Shanghaiist nicely puts it. ®
