Cloud upstart Nirvanix bins another round of US sales bods
New sales boss broom sweeps out staff
Cloud storage biz Nirvanix has laid off some US sales staff as new veep Tina Gravel sweeps through the organisation.
The company's worldwide sales head used to be Erik Hardy. He's now at Blue Coat Systems as vice-president for global accounts and service providers. Nirvanix's marketing VP Steve Zivanic told us:
We recently hired a new sales executive, Tina Gravel, who has an extensive managed services background and led the cloud computing channel business at Terremark. As part of Tina’s overarching sales strategy, Nirvanix has recalibrated its sales resources and is shifting to a more managed services skill-set across its sales organisation. As part of this realignment of resources, some Nirvanix sales personnel are no longer with the company. We will be adding additional sales resources to support a fully managed services business model as we continue to make evolutionary adjustments to our organisation.
Gravel joined Nirvanix as its sales VP in September, and is recasting her department to suit her needs. Amazon is intensifying competition in the cloud computing arena, and startups like Nirvanix have to run faster and faster to maintain an edge over the online shopping behemoth.
This is not the first time Nirvanix has overhauled its sales team. Does this latest refresh indicate problems? Zivanic told us:
Nirvanix is on track to double its revenue this year, with high double digit growth. We are focusing our investments in engineering and operations while adding new sales skill sets from the managed services industry.
