Australian mobile enterprise SAP solution provider Sky Technologies has been snapped up by US based mobile enterprise player, Kony Solutions.

Founded in Melbourne by former Accenture executive Troy O’Connor in 2002, Sky Technologies has deployed mobility projects to SAP customers in around 35 countries.

Sky allows users to mobilise any business process on any mobile device using a single technology platform, while its ‘code-free' enterprise applications set can be seamlessly integrated to any back-end SAP app.

O’Connor said the acquisition was “a compelling combination and great news for all those wanting to offer innovative multichannel and mobile solutions to billions of users, not only in the U.S. but worldwide. It also extends our existing offering to Sky customers who want to mobilize their Siebel, Peoplesoft, Microsoft Sharepoint and other non-SAP environments.”

In a blog post Sky confirmed that its management team would continue to run the business as a subsidiary of Kony, remaining focused on mobilising SAP and continuing to fully support the Sky product suite.

“The exchange of expertise between Sky and Kony will also mean a significant strengthening of our offerings, increased opportunities for innovation, and the creation of new integrated solutions,”the post said.

Kony CEO Raj Koneru, said that the deal would make Kony Solutions the “undisputed mobile and multichannel application platform leader”.

The acquisition, along with Kony’s existing strategic partnerships with Accenture, Cognizant and IBM, will allow Kony to operate mobility centres of excellence in North and South America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific. ®
