Sony slides expose saucy Xperia slate
Tablet S refresh?
Posted in Personal Tech, 31st July 2012 14:24 GMT
Sony looks set to launch a Tablet S successor after internal slides escaped its HQ and revealed a lighter, thinner, brawnier device, known only as the Xperia Sony Tablet.
The forthcoming Sony slate will join the party with an Nvidia Tegra 3 processor; Android 4.0 or later; 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of internal storage; and a whopping 6000mAh battery, German news site Mobiflip reports after being sent a set of pre-release presentation slides detailing the device.
Other changes see the splash-proof aluminium body taken down to an 8.8mm thickness, 42 per cent thinner than the current Tablet S.
Amid various accessories also leaked, there's a Microsoft Surface-style wrap-around keyboard peripheral that doubles up as a kickstand.
While exact availability has yet to be revealed, the prices clock in around $50 less than iPad equivalents at each starting point: $450 (£287) for the 16GB, $550 (£351) for the 32GB and $650 (£415) for the 64GB.
We expect to hear more officially, though, as the Sony Tablet S approaches its first birthday this autumn. ®
