Videos starring the late Steve Jobs are now available on iTunes for anyone interested in retracing Apple's super-soaraway decade-long journey from niche player to fondleslab fever.

The six hour-long interviews feature the co-founder of the world's biggest recycler of Bill Gates' best ideas, speaking in full-on hard-man-of-tech mode: the Cupertino biz baron discusses computers, the IT industry, Microsoft, tablets and education, providing an insight into the fruity tech titan's rise to power.

Retrospectively fun moments include some prescient predictions from a 2003 probing: for example, Jobs brushes aside interviewer Walt Mossberg's suggestion that Apple should make a PDA and predicts that mobile phones are where people will want to store their contacts and calendars and mail.

Given the path of history, there are some humorously off-the-mark predictions too, including this pronouncement:

We look at the tablet and we think it's going to fail.

But wouldn't fondleslabs be ideal for reading books, Mossberg asks, only to receive this blistering put-down:

If you've got a bunch of rich guys who can afford their third computer, you know they have a desktop, a portable and now they're going to have a tablet to read with: that's your market. You know, people accuse us of niche markets.

The 10-minute 2007 dual interview with Bill Gates and Steve Jobs is also brilliant. Steve comes out on top, of course, as Bill just giggles with delight. ®
