Kiwi Kim Dotcom is to be given the Hollywood treatment in a documentary feature production with the working title of Mega Conspiracy.

The Hollywood Reporter reveals that the project will be co-produced by Dotcom’s long time buddy and associate Alex Mardikian, actor-producer Donovan Leitch and New Zealand filmmaker Fergus Milner.

Dotcom, the founder of controversial and defunct file-sharing service Megaupload, is embroiled in legal battles with the US government over large-scale copyright infringement through his Megaupload cyber locker service.

Dotcom is facing extradition to the US after an August 20 court hearing in Auckland.

The documentary is set to cover the lead up to the international bust, including the raid of Dotcom's US$24 million compound in New Zealand.

Mardikian told the Hollywood Reporter that around 60 hours of interviews have already been shot for the documentary, which includes extensive interviews with Dotcom himself and Megaupload employees who have also been indicted.

Mardikian is the former CEO of Hong Kong-based clothing company N1 Ltd., which was shut down during the raid on Megaupload because it was found to be partly funded by Megaupload’s ill-gotten gains.

Dotcom has also attracted the interest of former New York Times journalist Neil Strauss - also a friend of Donovan’s - who is now working on the definitive Kiwi Kim biography.

Strauss has form in regard to covering eclectic and complex pop culture luminaries having co-written the memoirs of porn star Jenna Jameson and rock stars Marilyn Manson and Dave Navarro. Dotcom (who has a rapping penchant) is also slated to release his first album later this year. Apparently the terms of Dotcom's electronically monitored bail allow him to use the internet and record in a music studio. ®
