iiNet-owned ISP Internode is leveraging its parent’s infrastructure investment and offering ADSL2+ services across an additional 240 exchanges through Australia. The residential service, Easy Broadband, will now be carried across the iiNet network which more than doubles the number of exchanges that can deliver Internode Easy Broadband services from 208 to 450.

The service will now extend to iiNet’s home turf of Western Australia in addition to reaching out to the suburbs of Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and Brisbane. The expanded coverage will be available for new signups by close of business on May 1.

Internode MD Simon Hackett said the product deployment was part of the ongoing process of “obtaining synergies from the two companies joining forces,” and extending Internode’s network capability without the need for additional investment.

“This is not an exercise in iiNet retail resale, it is an exercise in wholesale level access to the low-level last mile ports concerned, with the remainder of the end-to-end service being provided by Internode identically to that service offered on its own direct ports,” he said. He added that the iiNet Group continued to invest in new DSLAM coverage as required.

Internode is also planning to deliver its dialtone-free Easy Naked services through the new exchanges, with availability expected in the next few months.

Around 15,000 Internode Easy Reach customers which have a service that can technically access these extra DSLAMs will be automatically migrated to the new equipment over the next three months, free of charge. ®
