Indonesia's technology sector is adopting familiar models to foster growing businesses.

The Jakarta Post reports that the Indonesia Information and Communications Awards, a program sponsored by the nation's Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, will in 2012 offer a prize to the best startup as Indonesia seeks to emulate the technology growth engines of other nations.

The awards program also aims to improve Indonesia's profile as a source of technology products, services and innovation.

Some of those qualities are already visible on the nation's indigenous crowdfunding sites. Wujudkan.com and Patungan.net have both adopted familiar models and can already point to some local success.

The sites are, however, hoping for better online payments mechanisms, as contributing funds to projects posted on Wujudkan.com currently requires would-be-supporters to visit an automatic teller machine to transfer funds. ®
