Vocus doubles revenue and data centre space
Big data drives growth
Dark fibre and data centre provider Vocus Communications has doubled its revenue in the first half of 2012 reflecting the company’s shift from a niche provider of wholesale Internet into a core provider of infrastructure based telecommunications services.
Revenue for the first half of 2012 was $AU21.9 million, up 57 percent from $AU13.9 million in the previous corresponding period. Underlying EBITDA was $AU7.6 million, up 63 percent from $AU4.6 million.
The company has also significantly invested in the expansion of its Sydney Data Centre. The new facility to be named S3 will be double the existing space, bringing online an additional 425sqm.
Works are expected to be commence within 45 days and Vocus expect the first expansion facility to be online in June 2012.
The data centre company has also secured an option over another 1000 sqm of space.
