BT biz broadband staggers to its feet after 4-hour titsup

Major outage knocks out punters' connections

BT suffered what it described as a "major business broadband problem" today, which kicked off at about 07.25 GMT.

The telco's service status page is listing the problem as major, but not giving out too much additional data.

"Some business customers may currently be experiencing problems connecting to their broadband service," the status page statement reads.

"We are currently experiencing high call volumes and you may have some difficulty speaking to an advisor. Please continue to visit this site or call our Service Status line on 0800 169 0199 for further updates.

"We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience."

A BT spokesperson told The Register that services were back up and running after a short outage this morning, but the status page is still saying that the estimated time to fix the issues is "ongoing".

BT Business' Twitter feed said the problem was fixed at 11.30 GMT, and advised users to restart their routers to get connected.

BT's last major outage was in October, when one of its major exchanges in the Midlands was hit by a power failure, taking out business broadband and Infinity customers as well as Easynet and other telcos. ®
