Facebook tries to grow up by undergoing corporate rejig

Facebook has reportedly overhauled its corporate structure in (probably) a sly nod to Google and (more likely) as a strategic move ahead of the company's expected IPO.
According to All Things Digital, citing unnamed sources, the dominant social network has slotted its design, product and engineering teams into working more closely with Facebook's privacy and communication units.
The approach is not dissimilar to Google boss Larry Page's tactics. He recently refreshed Mountain View's corporate structure by axing unsuccessful products and narrowing the company's focus to developing technology that placed a bigger emphasis on user identity and social media.
Google preferred to say that the strategy was all about creating a more cohesive "platform" online.
Facebook's IPO is on the horizon, so it's hardly surprising to see CEO Mark Zuckerberg sharpen his employees' focus on what are considered to be cornerstones that investors and shareholders expect from public companies: privacy and communication. ®
