The NSW Government is ramping up its digital-heavy reputation-building with plans in motion to open an international business office in Silicon Valley within months.

NSW Deputy Premier and Minister for Trade and Investment Andrew Stoner said that San Francisco was the ideal US location for the NSW office because of emerging industries concentrated around venture capital and ICT hubs in Silicon Valley.

"The NSW Government is strongly focused on expanding our international markets as part of our commitment to rebuilding the State’s economy. We must promote NSW in our established markets as well as in emerging markets," Stoner said.

He added that the San Francisco office would drive investment and promote exports and the research and development capabilities of key industry sectors which include digital services, ICT and financial services.

"Establishing an on-the-ground presence will allow the NSW Government to effectively promote, access and maintain key corporate and government relationships and match NSW strengths to opportunities in the US," Stoner said.

NSW has international offices in Guangzhou and Shanghai in China, Mumbai in India, and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. ®
