Apple's latest smartphone, the iPhone 4S, goes on sale in Blighty at the end of the week. All the UK's major networks will offer it. So which of them have the best deals?

Most contracts are based on a two-year commitment and significantly vary, not only in price but in terms of what you get for your wonga. We've taken the cheapest and most expensive options from each provider and compiled them for comparison.

The pick of the bunch for me is Three's One Plan, which offers competitive prices with an all-you-can-eat data appetite and a comparatively low monthly outlay.

Aside from breaking into an Apple store or robbing a tech-minded grandparent, the most inexpensive way of getting hold of a 4S is through O2, which will punt it out in a deal worth £15.50 a month. But there's no data included, though.

For further details on all other plans, as well as 18-month and one-year contracts, have a ganders at company websites. O2, Orange, Three, T-Mobile and Vodafone are all taking advance orders and have a wide selection of tariff choice to suit one's needs.

Then again, you could always get a 4S Sim-free and save yourself a couple hundred quid in the long run. Both GiffGaff and Three offer affordable Sim-only deals with truly unlimited data plans. Worth considering if you have the cash to splash in the first place.
