IFA 2011 At IFA in Berlin today, Samsung unveiled its Galaxy Tab 7.7 Android tablet and, with its 1280 x 800-pixel touchscreen, claimed a world’s first for display resolution on a 7.7in tablet.

This latest addition to the Galaxy Tab range features a dual core 1.4GHz processor and runs Android 3.2 (Honeycomb). It is available in 16, 32 and 64GB capacities with the option of micro SD expansion of up to 32GB, and has 1GB of RAM. A-GPS is on-board along with 2.4/5GHz Wi-Fi and like earlier Tabs, it can function as a phone too.

Samsung was keen to highlight the Tab 7.7’s media viewing capabilities with playback of scaled 1080p videos at 30fps possible on-screen, with format support including MPEG4, H.263, H.264, WMV, DivX, Xvid.

At 197 x 133 x 8mm and 335g, this slimline tablet also packs a 5100mAh battery that’s apparently good for 10 hours. UK availability has yet to be confirmed, but we’ll keep you posted. ®
