Tennis stars began swinging rackets at Wimbledon today, marking the 125th anniversary of the prestigious tennis tourney. To celebrate, Ralph Lauren has put together a serving challenge for all to try.

Boris Becker was at hand today to launch the competition, which features a custom-made tennis arena modelled on the famous Centre Court.

To take part, participants must serve a tennis ball into a large display. Upon impact, the ball turns into a virtual animation of what would happen, continuing the trajectory perfectly in the animated court. A speed gun tracks the ball, measuring the velocity of the serve, with prizes for the fastest handed out at the end of the week.

Such tech is regularly found in the golfing community, but has apparently never been used before to create a tennis simulation.

If you fancy your chances, head down to the Wimbledon Park Golf Club, where the Ralph Lauren Wimbledon Serving Challenge runs all week. Careful not to tread on a Womble. ®
