Nokia has responded to Friday's ITC determination by filing another complaint against Apple, this time citing seven new patents and again calling for an import ban on Cupertino's products.

The International Trade Commission has the power to prevent patent-infringing products being imported into the USA, which is what Nokia would like to see. However, the Finns took a blow last week when the ITC judge issued an initial determination on their last complaint, in favour of Apple, and so Nokia has filed another.

"Nokia does not agree with the ITC's initial determination," says the latest release from the company, which "is waiting to see the full details of the ruling before deciding on the next steps in that case".

That ruling still needs an ITC vote, scheduled for August, but Nokia isn't waiting for that to happen before filing another case with the ITC. This time there are seven patents involved.

The documents aren't public yet, but Nokia claims they cover aspects of multi-tasking, synchronisation, positioning, call quality and Bluetooth management.

Once the filings are published we'll know more about what the patents cover. It will be up to the ITC, and the courts, to decide if Apple is in breach of any of them, and if so what restitution would be appropriate. ®
