An Oz morning TV team has out-innuendoed itself with an exchange worthy of the best (or worst) of Carry On.

With a couple of minutes to fill before the 6.30am news bulletin on Channel Nine's Today show, hosts Karl Stefanovic and Lisa Wilkinson got the ball rolling with a bit of banter about how best to defend yourself and your family from intruders.

Newsreader Georgie Gardner then chipped in her contribution, before reporter Ben Fordham concluded with advice on how to beat off unwanted visitors with a golf club:

Stefanovic is a bit of a local hero in the Lucky Country, and his performance following an apparently heavy night at the Australian TV industry's Logie Awards back in 2009 prompted much glee from a rival channel:

Stefanovic subsequently apologised for not being at his best.

On the other hand, Adelaide's Ten News at 5 newsreader, Belinda Heggen, was certainly at her best last Monday when she fired this barbed remark at sports chap Mark Aiston:
