Telstra is working with Swedish IPTV apps provider Accedo Broadband to develop BigPond TV applications for multiple TV and blu-ray platforms.

The new applications are powering the delivery of seven Telstra BigPond TV channels to LG and Samsung Connected TV sets and blu-ray players across Australia. Accedo, which worked with the likes of BT and PCCW, describes the deployment as one of the first OTT TV applications from a pay-TV operator in the world.

Telstra is also using Google’s Widevine adaptive streaming technology as part of the deployment.

The partnership between Accedo and Telstra will extend to a range of application projects currently under development.

“Telstra has a strong position in Australia and its innovative approach means it is always looking for new ways to expand its offerings,” said Accedo Broadband Asia VP Mark Adams. ®
