An eerie ad for Sony Ericsson's Xperia Play - aka the PlayStation phone - has sprung up on the internet and sees the Android mascot surgically enhanced with opposable thumbs.

The team at DroidNYTT somehow managed to get their mitts on a copy of the unreleased commercial, which follows in the tradition of disturbing PlayStation promotions.

Some might even say the ad is a bit too twisted, but it certainly gets the thumbs up from me. Let us know what you think.

Further information about the Xperia Play is expected at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) show in a couple of weeks' time. We'll keep you posted. ®
