Kills off crap email

Newsnight presenter Jeremy Paxman was in trouble for adding a consonant to "cuts" during Monday's show, now he's used another c-word to describe the programme's daily email.
With the subject line "This is an ex-email", Paxman said he was writing "positively the last Newsnight daily email. The time has come to put this exercise in fatuousness out of its misery."
Paxo continued: "The reason for killing it off is pretty straightforward. It's crap."
He explained the idea of the daily email came, "like so many other utterly brilliant initiatives (anyone recall the Newsnight podcast, for people who preferred their television without pictures?) – by visionary senior management at the BBC."
He noted that the mail often arrived after the show had been broadcast – a situation "those responsible are blaming on the tools of their trade. In this case they're right. The piece of kit (the "gizmo" to give its technical name) which sends out the email is completely useless and we can't afford to fix it."
We don't know how many subscribers the Newsnight email has, but we reckon the average Reg reader could knock together a "gizmo" out of an old desktop and some double-sided sticky tape.
Paxman, however, suggests anyone wishing to avoid pleasurable surprise when watching the show can always read the show's blog.
Or... "Alternatively, you could just switch on your television to BBC Two at 10.30pm." ®
