Might've needed changing not charging

A man was facing disorderly conduct charges yesterday after after swearing at trick-or-treating kids while wearing nothing but a very large nappy.

Joseph DiVanna, 47, from Florida, launched a series of tirades against trick-or-treaters and their adult chaperones in West Ocean City on Sunday. When not swearing he apparently demanded that the kids give him the candy, which they'd obtained entirely legitimately by threatening householders with 'tricks' over the course of Hallowe'en.

A number of shocked trick-or-treaters, presumably dressed as vampires, monsters, ghosts and the like, reported the foul-mouthed man in the giant baby costume to police, who promptly cuffed him.

At the time he was arrested DiVanna was still wearing the diaper, although his mugshot - here - shows he was quickly issued with what is either a regulation prison t-shirt or a giant romper suit.

DiVanna spent the night in custody on a $2500 bond, and was hit with charges of disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace.

The reports do not make it clear if DiVanna needed changing or burping after his arrest. ®

The Delmarva Media Group has been in touch to let us know that DiVanna says he was in fact wearing a full baby costume, "complete with T-shirt, bib and bonnet" not just a diaper.

DiVanna maintains the police were wrong to arrest him, as while he had drinks earlier, he wasn't drunk, and according to the paper, "was provoked by teens pelting him with candy."
