FoTW There was a time when if you had a pop at Spanish fascists they'd have you up against the wall quicker then you could say "¡Viva la Republica!"
Times have changed, of course, and now it's entirely permissable to suggest that Franco rigged the 1968 Eurovision Song Contest so Cliff Richard's Congratulations had to bend over to local ditty La La La.
Or so you'd think, but there are still those who are prepared to defend El Caudillo against suggestions that he was ever anything less than the greatest thing since sliced Spanish (pure white) bread:
You're a stupid bastard and a fucking idiot. Franco was not a murderer, but a great man and the best Chief of State that Spain has had since Philip II. And he didn't "buy" the Eurovision Song Contest: the song "La La La" won because it deserved to win.
