It's official: Vertu luxury mobile phones are not simply for the incredibly well-heeled but also for the celebrity obsessed too.

We are neither, but last night, we happened upon a fleet of Vertu-branded Mercedes limos parked outside a Great Portland Street, London Italian eaterie to which the chauffeurs had decamped for dinner while their exclusive passengers were posing for the paparazzi at a fancy nightspot in St James.

The stars of stage and screen - and professional pants wearer David Gandy - we were told, were waiting for goodie bags [surely 'celebrating the launch of a new phone'? - Ed] from Vertu, which was marking the upcoming arrival of the Constellation Quest, the company's first smartphone.

The Quest's key feature: an analogue clock which automatically adjusts to the user's location.

Quest also taps into Vertu.me, the company's new online syncing service. Even the filthy rich need their contacts backing-up, it seems.

Vertyu has no pics of the Quest on its website, so we'll have to assume it's yet another of its expensively re-tooled Nokia phones with an astronomic price attached. You can view a little more aty Vertu's website. ®
