Amazon's German division has posted a page for LG's upcoming Windows Phone 7 offering, the Optimus 7, and given us a few sparse details about the device.

The handset, also known as the E900, will have a 3.5in touchscreen, a 5Mp camera and a GPS pick-up.

It will cost €499 (£424) to buy, undoubtedly SIM-free.

More will surely be released early next month as Microsoft gears up to release its new OS. It has already begun inviting hacks to gatherings in London and New York on 11 October, which some pundits believe will be Windows Phone 7's big day.

Others claim to have been told by Microsoft that the event is about something else entirely.

Handset maker HTC is having a bash in Taipei on 7 October which is also tempting to see as its WP7 coming out party - Windows 7, 7 October, geddit?!?

In any case, some rumours point to a 21 October release date, whether the OS is launched on 7 or 11 October. Microsoft actually announced the OS back in February at Mobile World Congress. ®
