Harry Potter theme park magically swallows big visitors
Flagship ride adjusted for larger cargoes
The operators at the Harry Potter Theme Park are busily enlarging the attraction's key ride after finding that it is a little too snug for many visitors.
Universal Orlando announced on Monday it was "adjusting" the harnesses on its Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey ride, in which robotic arms whirl carloads of punters around as they travel through part of Harry's fictional life.
The park had caught heat from visitors and critics over "size restrictions", Associated Press reports, which often were only apparent after wannabe wizards had endured a lengthy queue for the ride.
Last month Banks Lee took to the blogosphere to report that he was excluded from the ride because of his 300-pound frame.
Lee initially said he used the experience positively, taking it as motivation to lose weight. He said he was determined to slim down enough to pour himself into the ride by the end of the year.
However, Universal clearly doesn't want its customers to delay their gratification or simply wants to fill its vault at Gringotts, and decided to ensure that Lee and other similarly girthed customers can have their cake and eat it. Which according to Banks, he did. Magic. ®
