Google's Schmidt satirised as privacy pervert

Run for your lives, kids. The ice cream man is coming!

Eric Schmidt has been portrayed as a depraved privacy pervert by the US-based ConsumerWatchdog.org, which is running an advert in New York’s Times Square that mocks the Google boss.

The ads are part of CW’s campaign that calls on Congress to bring in a national “Do Not Track Me” list.

CW, which routinely grumbles about Google, splurged cash on a huge digital billboard to promote the animated vid that ridicules Schmidt’s much-derided attitude toward consumer privacy.

“We’re satirising Schmidt in the most highly-trafficked public square in the nation to make the public aware of how out of touch Schmidt and Google are when it comes to our privacy rights,” said CW president Jamie Court.

“America needs a ‘Do Not Track Me’ list and Google is Exhibit A in the case for it.”

We at Vulture Central presume that such a list, if enacted, won’t be published online and available to search for via, well, Google.

The ad itself portrays an avatar of Schmidt driving an ice cream van while creepily spying on kids.

Cheerily, the not-for-profit group has uploaded the vid onto YouTube. El Reg guesses this means CW wanted to attack the enemy from within its own terror camp. Or something. ®
