An HD version of Comedy Central arrives in the UK this month, with Sky Digital first to broadcast, shortly followed by Virgin Media.

Launched in the US back in January 2009, Comedy Central HD will finally cross the water and join an on-growing list of High Definition channels available to the UK.

Cindy Rose, executive director of digital entertainment at Virgin Media said: “We’re delighted to be expanding our line-up with Comedy Central’s brilliant new HD channel and will be making great shows like South Park available in HD and on demand too.”

Yes, South Park is a great show, but why mention something that barely benefits from HD. Blocks of solid colour don't improve much. On second thought, it would have been laughable to say "great shows" like Two and a Half Men.

Comedy Central HD is available for Virgin Media's XL TV customers at no extra cost from September 1 on channel 133. Sky Digital customers can start watching on channel 222 from August 9. ®
