Palin puts paid to Boob-gate
Sarah spills all to cosmetically-enhanced news anchor
Sarah Palin has put paid to rampant web speculation that she had sought to enhance her political profile by augmenting her physical profile.
The former VP candidate and erstwhile governor of Alaska triggered a blogosphere earthquake last week when she appeared at a horse racing meet with what some claimed to be a suspiciously fuller chest.
Palin initially stayed out of the furore, but this weekend she went onto Fox News to address the issue head on.
As People magazine reports, she told Fox anchorwoman Greta Van Susteren, "No, I have not had implants."
"A report like that is about as real and truthful as reports that [my husband] Todd and I are divorcing or that I bought a place in the Hamptons or that [my son] Trigg is not my own child," Palin continued.
Seeking to bury speculation about her anatomy once and for all, Palin described it as "Boob-gate", thereby ensuring that the issue will remain in the public consciousness.
Palin also bemoaned the effect the debate had had on her own time management. "It makes me have to waste time figuring out what am I going to wear so that nobody will look at an area that I don't need them to look at."
Which will presumably ensure that the public focuses squarely on the area of Palin's ideological and ecological views.
As Palin said, "I think some of those folks, too, they need to perhaps grab a shovel, go down to the Gulf, volunteer to help, clean up and save a whale or something."
Interestingly, Van Susteren publicly admitted to cosmetic surgery when she made the leap from reporter to anchorwoman on Fox. So she should know exactly what she's talking about. No doubt Palin had plenty to take away from the discussion. ®
