Managing tech budgets and services

In the 'virtualised' and 'cloudy' world

Webcast A virtualised server runs applications for every department, so which one pays for it, and how? You can purchase your IT outright, finance it, outsource it or pay as you go, but which offers the best return on investment? Does the cheapest licensing strategy always make the best financial sense?

As your employer looks to stay competitive while cutting costs, the IT department needs to justify its investments at exactly the time that the existing models of return on investment are becoming obsolete, along with the traditional methods for extracting budget for projects.

The IT department needs to identify new ways to cost-justify what it does. It can't fudge the figures or wait until it is forced to adapt. This change isn't going away, and so we need to discover new ways to budget, cost and pay for tomorrow's IT.

All of these questions and many more besides will be the feature of our latest webcast – beaming live to your desktops on 10 June at 11am.

Hosting the event will be The Register’s own Tim Phillips, joined by Martin Atherton from Freeform Dynamics and Mark Taylor from Microsoft. The trio will look at how to stay competitive in an increasingly fast-moving business environment and maximise efficiencies in uncertain economic times. At the same time, they’ll consider how factors such as the decoupling of hardware and software driven by virtualisation technology, and emerging financing and payment models are influencing the choices we have to solve business problems and challenging the ways we have approached technology in the past.

If you’re wondering what these new technologies and services can deliver to your budget, join us. You can register for free right here.

Remember, if you can’t make it on the day, register now and we’ll send you an email when the recorded version of the event is ready for you watch at you leisure. ®
