Feel.me up for grabs in dot-me domain auction

F*ck.me? Not yet

The Montenegro company behind dot-me internet domains, doMEn, has put 42 catchy names up for auction, including feel.me, see.me and mini.me.

doMEn has partnered with SnapNames.com to sell the domains. At the time of writing, click.me had attracted the highest bid at $2,600, but the auction does not end until 11 May.

But what we really want to know is when will fuck.me, surely the jewel in the dot-me crown, see the auction block?

As is common with newly launched or newly liberalised top-level domains, doMEn put aside hundreds of strings at launch, either to be dribbled out in periodic auctions or “reserved” by the company to remain permanently unregistered.

A quick butcher's at the reserved list (pdf) shows that while fuck.me is currently slated for a future auction, cunt.me and motherfucker.me will be forever verboten. And while cock.me has already been registered, cocksucker.me will, for some reason, never see the light of day.

doMEn has also ruled out coarse verbs in a handful of other languages. Italian speakers, for example, wanting to register fottere.me or leccare.me are out of luck – both are reserved.

It's also standard practice with new TLD launches for the registry to reserve certain technical terms, for reasons of security and stability.

That's no doubt what doMEn joint-venture partner Go Daddy had in mind when decided to reserve godaddygirls.me and bobparsons.me, rather than, say, domaincontrol.me or secureserver.me. ®
