Asus goes all out for SuperSpeed USB

Says dozens of USB 3.0 products coming

Asus is ramping up the number of device it offers with SuperSpeed USB 3.0 on board, announcing that more than 20 gadgets will feature the high-speed bus.

The Taiwanese company has already launched a USB 3.0 motherboard, introduced late last year, and is preparing one of its O!Play set-top boxes with a SuperSpeed port.

But this week Asus announced that a whole host of new mobos - for AMD CPUs as well as Intel chips - will be equipped with SuperSpeed, as with a pair of Eee Box nettops - the 1210U and 1510U - and a trio of Eee PC netbooks: the 1015, 1016 and 1018.

The USB Implementers Forum - the industry body behind the bus standard - currently lists 61 certified SuperSpeed products, from motherboards and PCs to drives, adaptors and controller chips. ®
