Hot on the heels of last week's Vaio M netbook introduction, Sony has today taken the wraps off another Vaio range: the colourful E series.

The line-up comprises a 14in model and a 17in notebook, both of which join the 15in Vaio E launched in February.

It did reveal that the new machines both run Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, have 4GB of 1066MHz DDR 3 memory, a 500GB 5400rpm Sata hard drive, Bluetooth and 802.11n Wi-Fi.

The 14in machine, the Vaio VPCEA1S1E, also has a 2.13GHz Intel Core i3-330M processor, AMD ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5145 512MB graphics chip and a multi-format DVD writer. Its display is a glossy 1600 x 900 job.

The 17in Vaio VPCEC1S1E has 17.3in 1290 x 10980 screen driven by a Mobility Radeon HD 5650 1GB graphics core. It has a Blu-ray ROM and DVD writer combo drive and a 2.26GHz Core i5-430M CPU.

There's also a version of the 17in model with the same spec as the 14in machine. Like the 14in Es, it's priced at £700. The higher spec 17in model will cost £900.
